We Love Kids

At Peterson Center for Dentistry we feel good dental habits start at an early age. We recommend kids start seeing the dentist around the age of three, unless there is something that is of particular concern. Three years old is a good time for kids to get use to sitting in the dental chair, the instruments, and to begin coaching on oral hygiene. Our g
oal to make your child's visit to Dr. Peterson fun and enjoyable so they will look forward to coming to our office.
The dental check-up
When your child comes in for an appointment with Dr. Peterson you can expect him to take the time to explain to your child the importance of caring for thier teeth. The first thing Dr. Peterson will do is a thorough exam of the soft tissues and teeth. He will encourage your child to count thier teeth with him so they are aware of what is going on in thier mouth. The next step is to clean all the "buggies" off the teeth. After an exam is completed Dr. Peterson will ensure time is set aside to talk with you about your child's dental health and address any questions or concerns you have in order to work together to keep your child's teeth healthy.
Preventive Treatment for Kids
Preventive dentistry is the most effective way to avoid cavities in children. We recommend most kids are seen for thier dental check-up twice a year. At that time we encourage the use of flouride for most children through age 13. Sealants are also recommended for most kids for cavity prevention.
